“Healing” has become such a buzzword these days. But how do we really define it?
Here’s what Janet thinks...
“Healing to me, includes anything that helps us to create health within the body, mind and spirit. Music is healing, food can be healing, being “heard" can be healing.”
SO YOU MEAN... I do NOT need to look like buddha wrapped in white, dripping with crystals with sage and kundalini mantras?! lmao OH OK.
Janet’s Journey really took off from seeking her own healing going off drugs and after a near death experience in the water.
“My journey began with my own self healing. I came to my spiritual counselor and acupuncturist Abdi Assadi for help after detoxing off of drugs as I was ready to do what I now call my shadow work. Eventually he suggested that I look into Reflexology as I wanted to do something in healing world. This led me to yoga and to all that I do now. I had a near death experience in the water in Puerto Rico in 2005, that allowed me to see how much I wanted to be here, how precious life is and helped me to go full time and full on into the work I know have the pleasure of doing.”

Funny, how we get overwhelmed by the idea of HOW to get somewhere, when clearly we actually don’t need to worry so much about that! The universe seems to support us while our intuition guides us through one moment at time, opening new doors leading us to the next great and profound stage of our experience here.
“Theres is no way out but in, by doing the work.”
We asked Janet, “how do you enjoy sharing your gifts with others now?”
“I create/hold sacred space in which my clients self healing mechanisms can be activated. I tune into how I can best serve the person in front of me through the tools of reflexology, yoga, meditation, sound, and energy work. I believe you must listen to your heart and body’s messages regarding your own healing. We all have our own path. I am sharing the tools and wisdom that I have been blessed to receive in a way that I hope can benefit each student and client to feel grounded and healthy. I love personalizing sessions for clients and finding what tools are best for them to work with.”
REFLEXOLOGY TIPS:
Reflexology is based on the principle that there are energy zones running throughout the body and that by applying pressure to specific reflex points on the feet and hands, we can release energy blocks along these pathways, thus effecting the corresponding organs, glands and body parts within that zone. Reflexology can benefit anyone who deals with: stress related issues, insomnia, chronic pain, migraines, plantar fasciitis, feelings of being disconnected and/or ungrounded, creative blocks, low energy and feeling overwhelmed.
TOES: Reflex areas that represent the brain, head and neck!
Bottom middle of big toe - Master Glands
Top of all toes - Brain
Toes 2,3,4,5 - Sinuses
INNER ARCH: Reflex areas represent the spinal reflex. (Balance & alignment)
HOW TO WORK ON THIS AREA:
Look at your arch, feel for the bones & follow the natural curve.
Simply apply pressure on the inside of the foot, closest to the heel with your thumb & begin to move your thumb upward, crossing over each reflex area until you reach the bottom side of the big toe. Repeat until you feel pressure released, 5x +.
“This work controls the secretion of almost every organ in the body which helps achieve balance.”
THE EASIEST AT HOME YOGA POSITION:
CORPSE POSE
Though often a last pose done at the end of your yoga session, it can be done any time! It gives the spine a chance to relax completely and grounds the whole body to really feel one with the earth. Time to assimilate all the work you have done.
Scientific research over the past decade indicates that our bodies can be protected and helped - and that we feel better - when we are electrically connected to the Earth. Lying/connecting to the ground has many benefits like decreasing inflammation and pain, reduced stress levels, & improved circulation! Yes, all you need to do ladies and gents, is pull out your mat or blanket and lay the heck down like a corpse! Oh... and breathe of course!

MORNING SUGGESTION
DROP INTO YOUR BODY
Sometimes it’s taking a few minutes in the morning just to be with yourself.
Sit for 3 minutes before checking your phone, let alone social media.
Ask: what does my heart need? What does heart want to tell me today?
Or, what does my soul want to share with me?
Write it down!
*Notice the difference between when you take the time to do this and when you don’t!
A NOTE ON BEAUTY
“Beauty is everywhere if we are in the right fame of mind to see. For me it is how I feel, depending on how I feel it will affect how I dress, move and speak on any given day. Self Care is self-love. When I am in only “doing” mode it takes a back seat. When I am listening it might mean that I don’t fill up my day in between appointments, that I make space to see what my heart wants to do and what my spirit is saying. I am a big fan of long baths, using plant medicine oils, reading, moving my body in ways that feel good… I need lots of spiral movements lately.”
HOLLER, lets start taking more long baths!
Janet recommends doing one thing every day that brings you joy, such as getting out in nature. Building in small moments of pleasure for ourselves is essential!
“It’s our birthright to be in a joyful place.”
